Introduction
Dating back to the 17th century, Hatterrall Farmhouse remains home to original exposed beams, cosy woodburners, oak floorboards, and traditional flagstones. The house showcases a wealth of character and charm and boasts incredible views from all aspects, with the best seen from the spacious garden.
This spacious home is the perfect bolthole from which to explore the Brecon Beacons National Park, walk the Offa’s Dyke path, wander around the quaint market towns of Abergavenny, Hay-on-Wye, and Crickhowell, or explore Herefordshire’s most famous sights, including Hereford Cathedral.
Wake in the heavenly beds to the relaxing sound of birdsong, feel perfectly at ease beneath the honey-hued oak beams, and unwind in the comfortable reception rooms with the log burner roaring away.
Outside, laze to the trickle of the pond, wander up the hill into the wilds, and return to spend an evening admiring the stars from comfort of the bubbling Jacuzzi hot tub.
Inside
Step in through the oak front door into the cosy dining room, with statement red brick fireplace, piano, and long oak table with seating for 8, perfect for evening’s spent entertaining. The dining room leads off to a spacious living room with oak beams, a unique stone fireplace and log burner, a 55″ smart TV, and Duresta sofas providing comfortable seating for 8.
Off the central hallway there is a warm and inviting snug, perfect for reading in front of the fire, playing board games with the family, or enjoying a DVD. The hallway also leads to the heart of the home, the spacious, open-plan kitchen diner. The kitchen includes a Belling range cooker with electric hob, built-in under-the-counter fridge, dishwasher and the usual kitchen mod-cons, including a Nespresso coffee machine. The kitchen leads around to a further reception area, the hand-crafted oak frame sunroom – relax on the comfortable sofas waiting for your tea to brew as the low morning sun streams across the oak floorboards.
The utility room offers further space, with a larder cupboard, an area perfect for making cocktails, a freestanding fridge-freezer, washing machine, and tumble dryer. Head through the quirky wooden door to the back off the house, where you’ll find a traditional boot room, perfect for storing your coats and wellies after a walk.
Upstairs you’ll find four idyllic bedrooms; the master, with king-size bed and en-suite shower room, a second spacious room with king-size bed and en-suite shower room, a third king-size room, and a final bedroom with zip-link twin beds which can be made into a superking upon request. In-between the third and fourth bedrooms is a family bathroom with bath, bidet, basin and toilet. Downstairs there is a further shower room.

Outside
Open the patio doors leading off the living room and enter into the oak-framed pavilion, the perfect location for both a summer supper and a winter coffee.
Pretty gardens sprawl around Hatterrall Farmhouse, where a trickling fish pond (covered in netting for child-safety) offers opportunity for a peaceful moment. It’s the unique oak-framed gazebo that sits at the end of the lavender-lined path that really steals the show however – it’s the perfect place to sit back and enjoy a morning coffee, admiring the views of the rugged Black Mountains that tower behind. The pièce de resistance is the incredible Jacuzzi hot tub, made for easing muscles whilst watching the sun descend and the stars appear – totally dreamy!
If one wishes to roam, a short walk through the fields leads to Hatterrall Hill, where breathtaking mountain views await. Alternatively, if you’d prefer to connect with people other than nature, a 20 minute ramble through country lanes and over stiles leads to the small hamlet of Clodock, home to an unspoilt traditional pub of great character.
Our nearby village of Longtown (1.5 miles away) is home to a fantastic village shop (Hopes of Longtown), and food pub (The Crown Inn). There are many other nearby country inns if you wish to dine out. The market town of Abergavenny is 7 miles away, and the popular Town of Books, Hay-on-Wye, is 9 miles away.
