Escape to this idyllic 17th century farmhouse located at the foothills of the Black Mountains and immerse yourself in nature.

Introduction
Dating back to the 17th century, Hatterrall Farmhouse remains home to original exposed beams, cosy woodburners, oak floorboards, and traditional flagstones. The house showcases a wealth of character and charm and boasts incredible views from all aspects, with the best seen from the spacious garden.
This spacious home is the perfect bolthole from which to explore the Brecon Beacons National Park, walk the Offa’s Dyke path, wander around the quaint market towns of Abergavenny, Hay-on-Wye, and Crickhowell, or explore Herefordshire’s most famous sights, including Hereford Cathedral.
Wake in the heavenly beds to the relaxing sound of birdsong, feel perfectly at ease beneath the honey-hued oak beams, and unwind in the comfortable reception rooms with the log burner roaring away.
Outside, laze to the trickle of the pond, wander up the hill into the wilds, and return to spend an evening admiring the stars from comfort of the bubbling Jacuzzi hot tub.
Inside
Step in through the oak front door into the cosy dining room, with statement red brick fireplace, piano, and long oak table with seating for 8, perfect for evening’s spent entertaining. The dining room leads off to a spacious living room with oak beams, a unique stone fireplace and log burner, a 55″ smart TV, and Duresta sofas providing comfortable seating for 8.
Off the central hallway there is a warm and inviting snug, perfect for reading in front of the fire, playing board games with the family, or enjoying a DVD. The hallway also leads to the heart of the home, the spacious, open-plan kitchen diner. The kitchen includes a Belling range cooker with electric hob, built-in under-the-counter fridge, dishwasher and the usual kitchen mod-cons, including a Nespresso coffee machine. The kitchen leads around to a further reception area, the hand-crafted oak frame sunroom – relax on the comfortable sofas waiting for your tea to brew as the low morning sun streams across the oak floorboards.
The utility room offers further space, with a larder cupboard, an area perfect for making cocktails, a freestanding fridge-freezer, washing machine, and tumble dryer. Head through the quirky wooden door to the back off the house, where you’ll find a traditional boot room, perfect for storing your coats and wellies after a walk.
Upstairs you’ll find four idyllic bedrooms; the master, with king-size bed and en-suite shower room, a second spacious room with king-size bed and en-suite shower room, a third king-size room, and a final bedroom with zip-link twin beds which can be made into a superking upon request. In-between the third and fourth bedrooms is a family bathroom with bath, bidet, basin and toilet. Downstairs there is a further shower room.

Outside
Open the patio doors leading off the living room and enter into the oak-framed pavilion, the perfect location for both a summer supper and a winter coffee.
Pretty gardens sprawl around Hatterrall Farmhouse, where a trickling fish pond (covered in netting for child-safety) offers opportunity for a peaceful moment. It’s the unique oak-framed gazebo that sits at the end of the lavender-lined path that really steals the show however – it’s the perfect place to sit back and enjoy a morning coffee, admiring the views of the rugged Black Mountains that tower behind. The pièce de resistance is the incredible Jacuzzi hot tub, made for easing muscles whilst watching the sun descend and the stars appear – totally dreamy!
If one wishes to roam, a short walk through the fields leads to Hatterrall Hill, where breathtaking mountain views await. Alternatively, if you’d prefer to connect with people other than nature, a 20 minute ramble through country lanes and over stiles leads to the small hamlet of Clodock, home to an unspoilt traditional pub of great character.
Our nearby village of Longtown (1.5 miles away) is home to a fantastic village shop (Hopes of Longtown), and food pub (The Crown Inn). There are many other nearby country inns if you wish to dine out. The market town of Abergavenny is 7 miles away, and the popular Town of Books, Hay-on-Wye, is 9 miles away.

Reviews
Hatterrall Farmhouse was everything we were hoping for and more. The house is so spacious and beautifully finished. We travelled as two families with children ranging from 5 to 16 and there was plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves. So many options for eating and relaxing spaces, we were spoilt for choice. The local area is absolutely stunning with so many options for walks and enjoying the great outdoors. Sophia was really responsive and went above and beyond to ensure that we all had the perfect stay. We will definitely be back to stay at Sophia’s stunning home. I honestly cannot recommend it enough.

I had an amazing stay! The location was absolutely breathtaking and beautiful. The house was big and could accommodate us all easily. There were two living rooms with two TVs which was great. Kitchen was enormous and the rooms were very spacious. Cleanliness was second to none as I couldn’t even spot one spec of dirt. Parking was ample enough for two vehicles. The sound of the water at night is an experience on its own, soothing you to a good night’s sleep. Would also highly recommend this to families as it is quite private.

This is a beautiful property, very much like someone’s home rather than a rented-out house. We stayed over New Year and were delighted to find Christmas decorations still in situ, including a beautiful real tree. The property is set in a lovely area, remote enough to feel like a real get-away but equally within walking distance of a local pub, shop etc. I would highly recommend Sophia as a host too since she was available to give us help and advice if we needed it but equally left us alone to enjoy our own space. All round a very special property with a really good host.

We had the best weekend and stay here. I would heavily recommend this stay. If you are looking for an escape from our busy lives this is the place. Do nothing and relax and soak in the views and enjoy a home away from home. Our host Sophia was incredible and always responsive and helpful.

Another fantastic stay! It was our second time staying and before we arrived we wondered if it could possibly be as amazing as we remembered. It absolutely was! Sophia is an amazing host, incredibly helpful and responsive. We felt at peace the moment we arrived and even tried to extend our stay as we didn’t want to leave! We’re already counting down the days until we can go back! Thanks so much to Sophia and her family!

What an amazing place. Fantastic house and garden in a wonderfully peaceful setting. We walked up to Offa’s Dyke from the house, which was fantastic. The house was really well equipped, lots of large rooms and places to sit outdoors. Sophia was super helpful, and we had a great stay!

Warning ⚠️ You may never want to leave this place! I’m a world traveler, stayed in dozens of Airbnbs – I’ve never had such an impeccable experience like this one. First, the host – Sophia and her family are incredibly thoughtful, professional and kind. The place is stunning, absolutely immaculate. We are already planning a return! Thank you again, Sophia for a spectacular time!

Absolutely fantastic property and stunning views – an absolute gem of a find. The house was immaculate when we arrived and had absolutely everything we could have asked for (the kitchen especially was so well equipped). The quality of the bedding and towels would rival most 5 star hotels. The attention to detail was second to none and the host was super helpful when we had questions. We would have extended our stay if it wasn’t for pre existing commitments – to say we were sad to leave is an understatement. We are already planning our next visit. Thanks so much for a great stay!

What a spectacular setting. You really feel part of the mountains. Perfect for a young family like ours – with a great garden for games and outdoor living. The house is very well stocked and has a real charm. Great location with some lovely walks and pubs nearby. I would definitely recommend.
